As the name implies, visitor’s visas are issued to those who are visiting a country either to meet with a friend or relative during special or memorable events. It is also granted for the purpose of vacation, studies, business or touring. The type of visitor’s visa applied for determines the duration of time you are allowed to stay in the country and the documents that will be required from you. Usually, the consulate will grant you a minimum of three (3) months to six (6) months visa even if you have applied to stay in the country for a week or more. However, you are expected to leave the country before the expiration of your visa. Failure to do so might result in difficulties in issuing you a visa the next time you intend to visit that country. If you are lucky enough, a consulate might grant you a multiple visa, which means that you could leave and enter the country any number of times until your visa expires. A single entry visa is only valid for one entry into a country.

One of the requirements to securing a visitor’s visa is to receive an invitation letter from your host/hostess and proof of income showing your financial ability to handle your travel expenses during the visitation period. If you are unsure about how to proceed or if you need assistance in drafting the format of an invitation letter, contact us and we will be more than happy to help you.

You may need to fulfill some or all of the following requirements before a visitor’s visa can be granted:
  • Completed visa application form.
  • A valid international traveling passport.
  • Two recent passport-size photographs.
  • Proof of residence within the country or jurisdiction you are applying from (if applicable)
  • Confirmed return air plane ticket.
  • Invitation or cover letter from the person you are visiting.
  • Medical Insurance (should be provided upon request).
  • Detailed letter from the person explaining the purpose of the visit.
  • Proof of accommodation (Hotel reservation or proof of hospitality offered by receiving individual).
  • Proof of ties to your home country (This is sometimes necessary to show the consular officer that you will return back to your home country after the completion of your business).
  • Police clearance or recent certified criminal check, issued by the police authorities of the place where you reside (Sometimes necessary for new travelers).
  • Medical and physical examination report by an authorized physician.
  • Contact information of person receiving you at the airport.
  • Visa application fees payable by certified check, bank draft or international money order.
  • Photocopies of all supporting documents may be submitted along with the application. The originals may also be presented with the photocopies and will be returned after verification.
