Again, participation into the Green Card Lottery program is open to everyone. The following are the only requirements needed to enter the program.
The applicant should be a native of a country with low share of people immigrating to the United States. Please note that only your place of birth defines the opportunity to participate and not your country of residence or citizenship.
If you were born in any of the countries listed below, you are excluded from the annual Green Card Lottery program:
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- Mexico
- South Korea
- China
- India
- Pakistan
- Philippines
- Vietnam
- Jamaica
- Haiti
- Dominican Republic
- Columbia
- El Salvador
Secondly, the applicant should have completed secondary education equivalent to an American High School at the time of application. If you are a professional, it is advisable that you have a minimum of two years experience in your chosen field in case an American Consulate calls you for an interview. However, it is not a requirement to participate in the lottery program.
