If you are a professional holding at least a university degree or a skilled worker with at least two years work experience and your area of specialization is short supply, you may be eligible to apply for an immigrant visa to the United States based on the skilled worker program. Skilled workers receive 28.6 percent of the yearly worldwide limit. The prospective employer may be required to file an approved 1-140 form. You will also require a labor certificate or schedule A designation as evidence that you qualify for one of the shortage occupations in the labor market information pilot program.
